Hey There!

I'm Courtney and I have the best job in the world! I love moms and babies, and I'm passionate about supporting new parents as they make one of the biggest transitions of their lives. I've learned the hard way that our society doesn't value the needs of babies and their parents, and my goal as a postpartum doula is to fill that gap, helping each family I work with thrive and learn to parent from an authentic place that feels good to them. It's truly an honor to be allowed into someone's life during such a vulnerable time, and something that I never take for granted.

About Courtney

When she's not working, Courtney enjoys playing board games with her kids, spending time outside, watching TV with her husband, or talking to her sisters on Marco Polo.  If she's not doing any of those she's probably napping.

Courtney and her husband moved to Nashville from Wichita, Kansas, in 2010.  In the early years of marriage Courtney was a nanny for five children, and after receiving an Associate of Applied Science degree,  she worked as a medical assistant at a cardiology office. She stopped working in 2015 to have her first baby, and after struggling with postpartum and perinatal depression with her second child (2017), she became passionate about finding ways to help other parents who might be going through the same thing. She then trained with DONA International and became a certified postpartum doula! What she learned in her training about infant biology and maternal health radically improved her postpartum experience with her third child (2020).

Since late 2019 she has worked alongside a group of amazing doulas at East Nashville Doulas, refining her knowledge and skills while working in the homes of many different kinds of families. Courtney’s main goal as a doula is to encourage parents as they adjust to their new role, provide the most up to date and unbiased information, and gently guide them through this sweet and vulnerable season of life. She helps her clients have realistic expectations of the postpartum period by teaching them what normal infant behavior looks like, and how to cope with the demanding needs of a newborn. She also encourages parents to listen to their intuition, as they are the experts on their baby. Her empathy and warmth makes her clients feel safe, and her calming presence has been a huge comfort to the families she works with.
